On Saturday, February 17, Muncie Mission Ministries will hold its 20th annual "Walk a Mile in My Shoes" event at the Muncie Fieldhouse, located at 525 N. Walnut St. This impactful community gathering aims to unite thousands of residents in a meaningful mile-long walk that will raise funds for individuals in need within Delaware County. This year’s event goal is to raise $120,000.
In conjunction with the event, Muncie Mission has partnered with local used car dealership Oak Motors to launch its first-ever monthly match donation program. Oak Motors supports this effort by matching any recurring monthly donations made to the nonprofit up to $10,000 until the end of the event, underscoring its dedication to supporting the community and addressing the challenges faced by those experiencing homelessness.
"Oak Motors has been happy to support Muncie Mission in its important work going on 13 years now," said Tiger Okeley, Executive Board Member, Oak Motors. "Our similar community efforts complement each other. Muncie Mission works to uplift currently vulnerable people, while Oak Motors works to help people, regardless of their credit history, gain access to affordable and dependable transportation with support from our team and industry leading programs."
Since 2004, "Walk a Mile in My Shoes" has evolved into a powerful symbol of unity and compassion, drawing thousands of community members annually and raising awareness about the struggles the homeless face in Delaware County. The funds generated from the event play a vital role in providing essential services such as shelter, clothing, food, and recovery programs for men, women, and families in need.
